Description

🏄 The intensive surf camp in Biarritz is the formula for those who have decided that this week will be a surf week — not a holiday with surfing as a bonus, but a complete immersion in the practice, with the sole objective of progressing as fast and as far as possible.

🌊 2 sessions of 1h30 per day, Monday to Friday at the Côte des Basques, with the same qualified instructor in a group of maximum 8 students. The double daily session changes everything about the learning dynamic: between the morning and afternoon session, the body has time to integrate, recover slightly, and return to the water building on what the first session established. It's not accumulated fatigue — it's intelligent repetition, the same principle as elite sports camps.

🎯 In ten sessions over five days, progress is measurable and often spectacular. A beginner who enters the water on Monday morning leaves the camp with real technique, ingrained reflexes, an understanding of wave reading, and the ability to surf independently in conditions suited to their level. This is the camp that turns curiosity into passion.

⚠️ Booking slot: 9am (not 2pm like the other camps) — two sessions a day require an early start. The camp starts on Mondays only. Price and availability: see online booking conditions.

How the activity works

1

🛒 Step 1 — Book your Monday & programme briefing

Reserve your camp online selecting a Monday — intensive camps start on Mondays only. The booking slot shows 9am (different from the other camps at 2pm), but this is not your lesson time — it's the online booking slot. Contact the team on 05 59 24 11 84 or at team1@takamaka.fr for the precise organisation of the two daily sessions and the week's timing based on forecast conditions.

🏖️ Step 2 — Monday: two first sessions, the course is set

Monday means two contacts with the wave on day one. The morning sets the foundations on the sand and in the water — stance, balance, first whitewater. The midday break gives the body time to integrate. In the afternoon, your instructor picks up exactly where they left you — corrections are already precise because they watched you closely for 1h30. That second contact in the day anchors what the morning introduced in a way a single session cannot.
3

🌊 Step 3 — Tuesday to Thursday: the accumulation that transforms

This is the heart of the intensive camp. Each morning you arrive with what the previous day's two sessions built. Two new sessions add another layer. Balance becomes a given, you start choosing your waves, anticipating, self-correcting in real time. The first manoeuvres appear. Your instructor sees this progression from the inside — managing intensity, introducing new exercises at the right moment, monitoring your energy across the week.
4

🎯 Step 4 — Friday: week review & surfing independently

Friday, tenth and final session. Your instructor reviews the week — the progression from Monday morning to Friday evening is often spectacular, even to you. They give you the keys to continue independently: which conditions to look for, how to read the peak, which exercises to work alone. You leave the Côte des Basques with a real level, a technique, and a practice that can continue anywhere in the world.

FAQ

What's the difference between the intensive and the relaxed camp?

Both camps run for a week (Monday–Friday) on the same beach with the same qualified instructors. The difference is entirely in the pace: the relaxed camp offers 1 session of 1h30 per day — ideal for progressing while enjoying a balanced stay in Biarritz. The intensive camp offers 2 sessions of 1h30 per day — for those whose primary goal for the week is surfing and who want to maximise progress. In terms of results, two sessions a day embeds movements and reflexes in a way a single daily session cannot replicate.

Why does this camp book at 9am and not 2pm like the other camps?

The intensive camp includes two sessions per day. To fit two sessions into the best tidal and wave windows of the day, the time slot needs to open earlier — hence the 9am booking time rather than 2pm. Note: 9am is the online booking slot, not your lesson time. The exact time of each session is confirmed by the team based on the day's conditions — contact them on 05 59 24 11 84.

What level can I expect to reach after 10 sessions in a week?

In 10 sessions with intensive daily coaching, a complete beginner can expect to: stand up consistently on whitewater and first formed waves, manage their line with intention, read basic conditions (tide, sandbar state, sets vs foam), and begin simple manoeuvres (direction change, stability on the descent). An intermediate can work on more technical moves (cutback, roller) and significantly improve consistency in the line-up.
