Why choose Takamaka ?
Takamaka was born from a desire to develop outdoor experiences rooted in the territories themselves.

FAQ
Can I fit my own LOOK pedals on the rental bike?
Yes — and this is one of Takamaka's distinctive touches for serious cyclists. You can request LOOK KEO clipless pedals on the rental bike and use your own cleats. Specify your choice when booking online or contact the shop beforehand. Adjustable strap pedals are also available if you're not travelling with your own clipless pedals.
Is the 11/34 cassette enough for the Basque Country's climbs?
Yes — the 50-34 double chainring with 11/34 cassette offers a very complete range of gearing. The small 34 chainring paired with the 34 sprocket gives a 1:1 ratio that lets you tackle the steepest Basque cols (La Rhune, Col de Mehatze, Col d'Ispéguy) at any level. The 50 large chainring is perfect for the flat coastal straights at speed.
Which roads and cols can I ride in a half-day from Biarritz?
A half-day allows for rides of 40 to 80km from Biarritz depending on your level. The highlights: the coastal road toward Hendaye or Bayonne (rolling terrain), the climb toward Ainhoa via the back roads (views of the Pyrenees), the first ramps of the Col de Saint-Ignace (La Rhune) from Ascain, or the Saint-Jean-de-Luz → Ciboure → Col de Mehatze loop for stronger riders. The shop team can suggest the day's circuit based on your legs.
What's included in the rental — repair kit, helmet, lock?
The rental includes a helmet and a repair kit (inner tube, tyre lever, mini-pump). A lock is available on request.
What's the difference between this road bike and the other bikes in the Takamaka catalogue?
The road bike is aimed at practising cyclists who want performance on the road — light weight, stiffness, aerodynamic position, clipless pedals. The city bikes (€15–25/day) and trekking bikes (€15–25/day) are leisure and cycle-touring machines, more comfortable in position but less suited to long sportive rides. The electric cargo bike (€60/day) is a family solution. The Takamaka road bike is exclusively for cyclists looking for a quality machine to perform on the Basque roads.
