How the activity works

1

🛒 Step 1 — Book online & collect at the shop

Reserve your full-day SUP rental on the Takamaka website — pick your size (10'6 or 10'8), with or without the transport kit, and confirm your date. As soon as the Biarritz surf shop opens, collect your board, kit, and the team's spot recommendations for the day. The equipment is checked and handed over water-ready.
2

🌅 Step 2 — Morning session: the Basque Coast at sunrise

Make the most of the early hours — low-angle light, calmer sea, almost no one else on the water. Inflate your board in minutes with the kit pump, head to your spot, and enjoy the first session of the day. The bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Socoa beach, or one of Biarritz's spots depending on your mood — the rest of the world hasn't woken up yet.
3

🏄 Step 3 — Second session: a different spot, a different vibe

After a well-earned break, time to explore somewhere new. Deflate, load the kit into its bag, move to a different spot, and head out for a second session mid-morning or in the afternoon. Bay, surf beach, flat water — with a full day, you have time to try several environments and find your favourite stretch of the Basque Coast.
4

🔁 Step 4 — Return to the shop before closing

At the end of the day, deflate, pack up, and return everything to the Takamaka shop within the agreed time. Quick return, equipment check, done. One day on the water, two sessions, memories to spare — and probably already thinking about next week.

Why choose Takamaka ?

Takamaka was born from a desire to develop outdoor experiences rooted in the territories themselves.

Over the years, the network has grown around several destinations while preserving a local and human-centered approach. The goal has never been to standardize formats, but to adapt each project to the specific characteristics of the location and the expectations of participants.

FAQ

Should I rent the SUP for a full day or a half-day?

It depends on your plans. The half-day (€30) is ideal for a single focused session at one spot. The full day (€35) is the best value if you want to make the most of your time — back-to-back sessions, multiple spots along the Basque Coast, or simply no pressure to watch the clock. For just €5 more, you get twice the time on the water.

Which board size is best for a full day of paddling?

For long sessions, stability matters more than manoeuvrability. The 10'8 is often the better choice for a full day — slightly longer, it offers more volume and comfort over time, especially in changing conditions (calm morning, breezier afternoon). The 10'6 remains more versatile for those who want more responsiveness. When in doubt, ask the shop team for their recommendation based on your build and goals.

Is the transport kit included in the full-day rental price?

The transport kit (bag, pump, adult and child paddles) is available as an add-on — you can rent the board alone or with the full kit. For a day with multiple spots, the kit is highly recommended: it lets you inflate and deflate your board easily on location, with no need for extra equipment.

Do I need SUP experience to rent for a full day?

Self-guided rental is aimed at paddlers who already have SUP experience. If you're a complete beginner, the guided initiation at Socoa beach is recommended before heading out on your own for a full day. For confident paddlers, the full-day rental offers complete freedom to choose your spots and set your own pace.

Can we rent multiple boards for a family or group day out?

Absolutely — multi-board rental makes the full-day option an excellent choice for a family or group SUP day on the Basque Coast. The kit even includes adult and child paddles, underlining the family-friendly design of this product. For group bookings, contact the Takamaka team on 05.59.24.11.84 or at biarritz@takamaka.fr.
