Description

🕵️ Escape Biarritz is an escape game unlike any you've probably played before — because the room is Biarritz itself. No dark chamber, no on-screen countdown — the walls, streets, landmarks, and hidden corners of the city are your playground for 90 minutes on the clock.

🎒 Armed with a roadbook and a mystery backpack filled with accessories and clues, you set out as modern explorers hunting for enigmas. Padlocks to open, codes to crack, puzzles to solve — each stage of the trail reveals a new challenge and brings you closer to the exit.

🏖️ What makes Escape Biarritz unique is the double experience it delivers: you play and you discover. Each clue leads you to a specific place in Biarritz — a square, a landmark, an architectural detail — that you might never have noticed otherwise. It's the most unusual and most memorable way to discover the city, whether you're a visitor or a local.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Open to everyone, difficulty 1/5, up to 5 people per game for €49. Perfect for families, friends, couples, or an original outing with children (who must be accompanied by adults). Book by phone or email with the Takamaka team.

How the activity works

1

📞 Step 1 — Book & start briefing

Contact the Takamaka team by phone (05.59.24.11.84) or email (biarritz@takamaka.fr) to book your slot. On the day, head to the confirmed starting point. The team hands you your roadbook and mystery backpack, explains the rules, and gives the starting signal. From that moment, Biarritz is your escape room
2

🗺️ Step 2 — The trail: the first enigmas in the city

Roadbook in hand, you follow the first directions toward Biarritz's key locations. Each stage reveals a clue — sometimes visible, sometimes hidden, always logical. You open the padlocks, use the mystery backpack accessories, crack the codes. The group thinks together: this is a cooperative activity as much as a thinking game.
3

🧩 Step 3 — The 90 minutes: the tension builds

As you advance, the enigmas come thick and fast and the pressure mounts. You discover corners of Biarritz you might never have explored otherwise — and each puzzle solved brings you closer to the exit. The clock is ticking. Communication and logic make the difference. Who will find the exit before time runs out?
4

🏆 Step 4 — The exit & debrief

Whether you found the exit in time or not, the Takamaka team debrief reveals the enigmas you solved, the ones you missed, and the stories hidden behind the locations on the trail. You leave with a knowledge of Biarritz that few visitors ever acquire — and with the desire to come back for the Enquête à Biarritz

Why choose Takamaka for your escape game?

🏅 Classic escape rooms all look the same: a closed room, reconstructed scenery, a countdown on a screen. Escape Biarritz takes exactly the opposite approach — the city itself is the stage, and each clue leads you to a real place in Biarritz. No reconstruction can compete with a real landmark, a real square, a real panorama facing the Atlantic.
🌊 Takamaka has been in Biarritz for 30 years. This isn't a leisure startup that put together an escape city activity in a city they don't know — it's a team that has walked these streets for three decades, that knows their details, their history, their hidden angles. Escape Biarritz is built on this intimate knowledge of the terrain: the enigmas aren't generic, they're part of the city. 🎯 The choice of difficulty 1/5 is deliberate: Escape Biarritz isn't a challenge for seasoned players — it's a shared experience for everyone, from grandparents to 8-year-olds, from couples on a weekend break to groups of friends looking for something different. Wit and lateral thinking count as much as speed. And at €49 for 5 people, it's one of the most financially accessible activities in the Takamaka catalogue.

FAQ

What exactly is a real-world escape game?

A real-world escape game uses the actual city as its playground — the streets, landmarks, squares, and locations of Biarritz are the "rooms" of the game. You're not locked in — you're exploring. Clues and enigmas are woven into real city locations, making the experience unique and far more immersive than a standard room.

Can you play alone or does it require a group?

Solo play is possible — but Escape Biarritz is designed as a cooperative group activity: the enigmas benefit from multiple people's combined thinking. The formula is most economical in a group (up to 5 people for €49), and the experience is clearly richer and more fun with others. Solo play is possible but not recommended.

Is the activity suitable for children?

Yes — Escape Biarritz is accessible to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The difficulty of 1/5 is designed to be accessible without any prior escape game experience, making it an excellent multi-generational family activity. No minimum age is stated — younger players participate fully in the group's thinking.
